Midnight Ally (Morganville Vampires #3)

Morganville is such a nice place to live... And die. If you don’t mind that sort of thing.

When Claire Danvers learnt that her college town was run by vampires, she did what any intelligent, self-preserving student would do: she applied for a transfer and stocked up on garlic. The transfer is no longer an option, but that garlic may come in handy.

Now Claire has pledged herself to Amelie, the most powerful vampire in town. The protection her contract secures does little to reassure her friends. All of a sudden, people are turning up dead, a stalker resurfaces from Claire’s past, and an ancient bloodsucker extends a chilling invitation for private lessons in his secluded home.

As soon as I finished the first book containing the first 2 Morganville Vampires I had to go out and get the 3rd & 4th. From the first book on I became in love with this series. Its not like the others such as House of Night or even Twilight. This story to me became real. When people ask me what my all time favorite series is, I tell them the Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine.

We continue this series where book 2 left off. Shane's father has been run out of town, and who knows when he will be back. Everything seems to be just fine, right? Everyone seems to be in bliss, even Claire although shes becoming bored of her studies, they just seem to be to easy. We jump right into this book with Monica being all nice to Claire because Claire as signed the contract to being owned by Amelie. Only Claire roommate's do not know that Claire is risking her life to protect theirs.

Claire is slowing growing in these books, which is a reason I love reading them, the character development is a big part of these books. We also get to meet new characters, My favorite new character is Myrnin. Claire is assigned to work with Myrnin by Amelie as a secret. She can't tell anyone what shes doing even though she could be in great danger. Claire becomes sympathetic to the vampires, and starts to doubt if what shes doing is right to do. Even though she has her doubts she continues her work with Myrnin because he pushes her harder than any teacher could. She is addicted to the knowledge Myrnin could give her. Even if he isn't always sane.

Then things go wrong. Amelie sends Claire a bracelet she must wear to show that shes protected. Shane is having his trouble with accepting Micheal's transaction to a vampire. Eve is dealing with her sociopath brother. Dead girls are showing up near their home, and Sam (Micheal's Vampire Great Uncle) almost died right in front of their house. Their lives are in chaos yet they still find the good in life to have a little fun at Monica's VIP party (which Claire spreads the invitation).

At this point the book reaches its peak, Shane, Claire, and Eve walk home alone (for reasons I cannot say) and run into Jason- Eves Sociopath brother. Someone gets hurt and it all spirals out of control. Claire gets Monica into ICU, and has to figure out how to help her before she dies. Myrnin is locked up to protect them from his insanity, and it is up to Claire to fix it all. In the end they all are settling back to normal life but then some visitors arrive (Claire's Parents) Claire's dad is so not happy and they have come to talk to Claire, as Micheal invites them into the home some unwelcome visitors whom they didn't know were there come in. Bishop and his two pets command they get his daughter Amelie there within the hour or they all die.

Then that's the end.....It leave you with a big cliff hanger. To me this book was an introduction to the 4th book Feast of Fools, because nothing extremely shocking happens. yes there's plenty of drama going on but nothing like the first two books. I feel it was based on growing the characters and setting up the story line for the next book.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Its my favorite series of all time and will be for years to come. I have re-read this series a lot and I love going back. It makes me laugh and cry and I have told tons of people to go out and read this series. I hope you all think the same :)

~Good Readings~

Feast of Fools (Morganville Vampires #4)

The wait is over. dig into the feast...

In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans live in relative peace. Student Claire Danvers has never been convinced, though, especially with the arrival of Mr. Bishop, an ancient, old-school vampire who cares nothing about harmony. What he wants from the town's living and its dead is unthinkably sinister. It's only at a formal ball, attended by vampires and their human dates, that Claire realizes the elaborately evil trap he's set for Morganville.

**WARNING** May be spoilers :)

This is the 4th book in the Morganville Vampires. It continues exactly where the 3rd book left off, Bishop and Claires parents have come to town. Only her parents are the least of their problems. If they don't get Amelie there Bishop will kill them all. They are certainly shocked about the situation they are in and are doing everything to not be killed. When Claire tries Amelie again with her cell and gets voice-mail they are left with no choice but to call Oliver for his help.

Claire is forced into trusting people she otherwise would not like to. She's also left with finding the cure to the Vampire's sickness that's slowly killing them. Throughout reading these books you get to see the character development. Shane hates vampires, yet his best friend is now one and hes slowly growing to the fact maybe their not all bad and maybe its good to have some on your side. Micheal used to be a ghost so you can really see hes changed the most, now that hes a vampire, hes also dealing with the fact he can't protect them. Claire has changed a lot, she was naive and oblivious to this town, now she doubts what she sees and questions everything.

Amelie throws a welcome feast for Bishop and Claire is not invited. Shane is by Bishops daughter Ysandre, Micheal invites Monica and Eve takes a deal with Oliver to attend. Claire knows there's something boiling on the surface but she can't figure out what. Will there be enough time to save her friends? Has Myrnin betrayed her in her time of need?? Will Shane survive the night holding the specific thing Bishop has come back for?? Only the next book could tell....

I really enjoyed this book. We are left with so many questions for all the characters. Rachel Caine knows how to tease :) Everything just keeps building and getting more chaotic then before. Just when they think maybe we can breathe they are struck again. Not to much happens in the book but the ending is a lot of information that is needed in the next book. You know its only the beginning for these characters and I love every part of it.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Sure it can be slow at times but those are the moments I love the most. Its the scenes where Claire is snugged up to Shane or Myrnin is mocking her. Micheal protecting her and Claire totally blushing seeing Micheal almost nude :) That is what makes these stories so real, the moments in their lives that are so real. Okay maybe we don't all have a roommate who's a drop dead gorgeous vampire, but we can daydream right?? Anyways I hope you enjoy my review and especially this series :)
