Heart Waves

Heart Waves (#1)

Author: Danielle Sibarium

Pages: 249
Genre: YA-Romance

Jenna Kingsley has a gift. She knows things. With a simple touch she can pick up personal information from jewelry or objects. While at a neighbor's party, a voice mesmerizes her. Jenna is momentarily frozen as a ring is placed in her hand. White electricity surges through her and a dire prediction is made. "It's like Romeo and Juliet. You're going to break my heart."

From the moment they meet Jenna is enchanted and entranced with Reece Walton. She’s thrilled to learn he’s spending the summer two houses away from hers. Every moment they spend together is magical. But she can’t get the prediction out of her mind. As the summer draws to a close and secrets are revealed, can Jenna get past the fear of being left with a broken heart to live in the moment with Reece or will her fear of being hurt fulfill the prophecy?

I will start out saying this book is amazing!! It blew me away, It's been such a long time since I've read just a young adult romance book and I'm glad it was this one. Danielle Sibarium has a way of stealing your heart and making you fall in love with the characters.

It was a easy read. It starts out with Jenna at a house party with her thoughts. Shes mad at this guy named Steve and has finally got a chance for revenge, she intentionally ruins his relationship with a girl by what holds in his future. When shes all said and done a guy comes up and places his ring in her hand and this is where our journey begins. She gets upset about what she sees and how she is in his future. Only things will end sadly so she storms out. Only he's this amazing guy who likes to play the Hero and man oh man is he great with the smooth talking. I would have melted in his arms :)

Jenna knows from the beginning that her and Reece are doomed to end, so she figures she'll stop it before it begins. Only he wins her heart in the end. His thousand watt smile and carelessness draws Jenna in. Hes drawn to her in a way hes never felt before, girls always chase after him, he's never had to do the chasing and I loved seeing him struggle and be surprised by her. Jenna is a very relateable character. I can see some things in her that were like me as a teen. I think every girl who reads this will find a part of her that they can relate to. She's insecure at times and has some trouble trusting Reece at times.

When they are together its the cutest thing, hes very protective of her and can't stand to be apart for more than a moment, but the summer is coming to a end and shes still in high school while hes in college. The drama in this book is on high. Grace (Jenna's Best friend) is a great addition to this book. Grace adds a element of comfort for Jenna and advice in dire situations. As the past catches up with Reece will Jenna still trust him. Is his past to much for her, and will knowing the future make Jenna give up hope for a ultimate action to change the reaction of their future??

Throughout this story we learn more and more about Reece, he's Mister Mystery and holds some dark secrets. An ex-girlfriend, a family who never meets his girl friends, best friends with a guy she hates (Mike) who dates her best friend, breaking Jenna's heart somewhere in the future, and then the hatred for a guy named Tyler. The ending left me emotional. We didn't get all our answers and are left blank wondering what is going on. I was a bit upset with Reece and wanted him to trust in Jenna to tell her what's going on and know that she wont run this time. We are left with questions and now I want to know more...Is Grace and Mike okay and is Tyler good or bad??? Can Reece be trusted??

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and recommend to anyone who is interested in a light easy read. The book flows and is easy to stay with the story. It's very charming and makes you hopeful that everything works out for the best. There's not to much of a paranormal feel to it, and for all those people who don't like paranormal books, this one you can find an exception for. I think it's also a great read for teens in high school and even adults. I personally cannot wait for the sequel to this book and think that this series would make a great movie for young girls :)  All in all I loved it and read it in a day. I hope you all enjoy this book.

Ascend

 Ascend (Trylle Trilogy #3)

Author: Amanda Hocking
Review By: Courtney
Published By: St. Martin's Griffin
Date: April 24th 2012
YA / Epic Fantasy
Pages: 326 pages

The Final Chapter Begins

Wendy Everly is facing an impossiable choice. The only way to save the Trylle from their deadliest enemy is by sacrificing herself. If she doesn't surrender to the Vittra, her people will be thrust into a brutal war against an unbeatable foe. But how can Wendy leave all her friends behind...even if it's the only way to save them?

The stakes have never been higher, because her kingdom isn't the only thing she stands to lose. After falling for both Finn and Loki, she's about to make the ultimate choice...who to love forever. One guy has finally proven to be the love of her life-and now all their lives might come to an end.

Everything has been leading to this moment. The future of her entire world rests in her hands-if shes ready to fight for it.

So this is probably my favorite book in the Trylle Trilogy. I am a person who gets obsessed with the trilogy and will rush out the day it comes out and buy it, that is exactly what I did for this book I would go to Walmart everyday just thinking about this book and when it would be on the shelves, I am a nerd and only think about the books, it annoys my husband  :) it makes me really sad to see it this trilogy come to a end.

In the start of the book Wendy is turning 18 and about to get married to Tove (even though they both have no attraction for each other, they know the kingdom will respect them and listen to them instead of rebelling). Right before her birthday, her friends are throwing her a small party with Rhys (her changeling brother) and before the party there's this huge boom on the door. Guess who......Loki shows up beaten to hell and back and asks for amnesty.

I did like Fin in the beginning but as this series has gone on I really began to dislike him. In this book Fin and Wendy's relationship changes for the best. During the wedding Wendy's father shows up (Oren) and causes some small trouble and she kicks him out, I think this is where everyone starts to see that shes turning into a princess, since everyone before doubted her. The relationship between Wendy and her mom develops but not with enough time. I really enjoyed that part in the book since in the first two books we sorta have this underlying hatred for her but we get to learn why she is that way. There's also this unspoken competition between Loki and Fin in this book  :)

Fin soon comes with bad news, a village not far from them is attacked by the Vittra. So Wendy kicks into leader mode, plans a meeting & sends a rescue squad to help them and they get ambushed. So she comes up with a stupid yet brilliant plan to go to the king herself. Will the king agree to the truce? Then the next day she goes out to help the village that got attacked, the group use their powers together, by the end of the day Tove has gone crazy from using to much of his power in one day so of course Loki comes into the room an saves her by using his power on Tove. Since shes so shaken from what just happened Loki try's to comfort her. Does he finally get his way into her heart, or will she turn him away again??

When they come back to the kingdom they that something major has happened. As shes talking to Tove about their decision, since Loki was eavesdropping he storms in in the middle of their conversation so mad at her and screaming. Wendy and Loki argue and come to a decision. Then Tove drops a bomb shell on Wendy something we learn about Tove and something Tove knows about Wendy and Loki's relationship.A lot of this book deals a lot with character building and finalizing who they are and whom they love.

Wendy's mom does pass and she is left with only two days to figure out how to kill Oren. While Wendy's figuring all that out she also has to decide on her future relationships between Tove, Fin, and Loki. Fin walks in on Wendy and Loki and goes into a jealous rage. This is the part of the book Wendy completely becomes the queen she is. She makes up her mind and decides her future. There is this great fight scene in the end. Some people we really like get hurt and its a both sad and proud moment in the conclusion of this trilogy.

I give this story 5 out of 5 stars. My favorite book in this trilogy and a great way to end it all. Amanda really knows how to keep you reading. I recommend that if you haven't read this trilogy from the beginning that you should. and to buy the paperback editions because each one has a bonus story. The last books bonus story is the best one I have read yet. Its like putting the finishing touches on a cake boss cake (haha tv to much??) with a little extra on the top :) I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have!!

Insuregent

Insurgent (Divergent #2)

Author: Veronica Roth
Review By: Courtney
Published By: HarperTeen
Date: May 1st 201
YA / Dystopia
Pages: 525 pages

ONE CHOICE

A CHOICE
Becomes a Sacrifice

A SACRIFICE
Becomes a Loss

A LOSS
Becomes a Burden

A BURDEN
Becomes a Battle

ONE CHOICE
CAN DESTROY YOU

Okay so I grabbed this book as quick as I could right after I read Divergent. Let me just say this series is my ultimate favorite this year so far. I borrowed the first book from Kayla and right when I was done my husband surprised me with book two, and then I went and bought the first book for myself :) That's how much I really enjoy this series.

It continues where we left off in Divergent and Tris, Four, Marcus, Caleb and Peter are on the run after the attacks on the Abnegation, They wind up going to Amity to hide since Amity are peaceful people they have no choice but to help but they will not get involved. This is something I really enjoyed about this book. You get a sneak peak at the other Factions and how they work. So it kind of fills in all the wholes in the story. (Like harry potter we didn't get to learn a lot about the other houses) without telling you all to much information about this book I'm gonna try not to say to much about the plot because then it will pretty much be laid out for you. But When they get to the Amity Tris of course doesn't feel safe and shes very paranoid. Wouldn't you be??

We now know that something is wrong for the Erudite for them to attack the Abnegation and we are on this journey to figure out just what it is. A thing you have to be prepared for, and I for sure was not is the back stabbing and man is it HUGE. I was like SERIOUSLY???? So yes be prepared for it. In this book Tris and Fours relationship is pretty much put to the test. Can they last?? I was crying like almost through this whole book because I was all messed up trying to figure everything out, okay I didn't really cry but I was reading as fast as possible to see what happens.

Another thing I really enjoyed about this book is the emotions of the characters seem completely real. Tris is full of guilt and grief and worse of all feels like shes not worthy being in charge.  But I'll get back to that later. So Amity help them for a couple days, somehow Erudite show up and somethings are about to get hectic. They are looking for Tris and Four. If it wasn't for Fours tats they would have been fine and then its also where Four realizes there's something wrong with Tris because she wont hold a gun and when she does she freezes up.

Then they are off, and this time to Candor. Where the only way they can stay there is if they take the truth serum (It makes you tell the truth no matter what). Four and Tris have to take this and a lot of things that they were both keeping in comes out. Its good for their relationship but not so great for some friendships. We also meet new people in this book from the Dauntless since a lot of the Dauntless went to Candor after the simulation on Abnegation. We meet and get to read some familiar characters like, Lynn, Marlene, Zeke and of course Uriah whom I have grown to really like. Edward from the first book who got stabbed is back joined in with the faction-less (Sorry to anyone who hasn't read Divergent, its not a big spoiler) and Jeanine (who is mentioned in Divergent but not known Erudite Leader) and Eric. Also people who have back stabbed in Divergent will surprise you in this book.

So Tris since she feels so guilty for everything that's going on, like its her fault she bum bum bum bummmm goes straight to Erudite (We learn a lot about them too) Its quite a funny part because she just walks right in and no one notices her and she could have like took out a million people before they realized who she was. Then of course if shes gonna die Four cannot live without her so he joins too *hits my head off the wall* come on don't be so stupid but I could understand that he loves her so much and will do anything to protect her (Married Remember...I'm completely spoiled by my husband) so blah blah blah stuff happens, I cannot tell you what but I can tease you ;)

The ending there is this giant bomb shell, a lot of reviewers say they could see it coming, of course I knew there would be a cliff hanger but this one was huge and the events leading up to the end was earth shattering. Tris and Fours relationship was put on a thin line and I was scared of what was gonna happen to them because I love them together. Then BOOM we learn the truth FINALLY :) We figure out what information it was the abnegation was entrusted with. And man is it BIG. Now I cannot wait for the third book, I can't believe I have to wait a year!!! It will be well worth it I believe :)

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and that EVERYONE should buy this books (&Divergent). It is amazing and you will love this story and characters. It is well worth the money, I barley tell people to go out and buy the books I love because you can always rent from library but this series is something you will enjoy owning and re-reading. There's a lot of character growth in this book and a lot of self doubt. To be in charge of a whole group of people without wanting to can be hard and I know I would struggle if I was Tris. I extremely love this book and this series, by far my favorite and I believe it will always be my favorite. I hope you all will enjoy this series as much as I do.
